Lead Teacher 

Position open: April 18, 2018

Serves as a lead teacher (aka caregiver) in a classroom of Early Head Start infants and toddlers, planning, implementing, and supervising center-based activities. Oversees the operation of the center and ensures the center is in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Class A licensing.  May be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations.  

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to support the work of volunteer leaders
  • Ability to develop and/or coordinate the development and maintenance of websites
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook

Minimum Child Development Associate (CDA) with infant/toddler endorsement or have equivalent coursework in age appropriate early childhood and child development to a level that meets or exceeds the CDA credential.

Experience – 1 year of experience as a teacher. Previous management and supervision experience is preferred.

Coordinator of Human Resources

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

JOB PURPOSE
To facilitate human resources and benefits administration & implementation for mid-size nonprofit organization. Includes but not limited to: recruitment, new hire and separation process, employee relations, benefits, policies, record retention, database maintenance and other duties as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Essential Functions

    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and organizational human resources policies and procedures. Must be actively aware of the legal requirements set forth by the County, State and Federal government agencies. Responsible for sending out notices and for maintaining all postings as required by law.
    • Responsible for running reports for various governmental agencies as requested by them. Internally will be required to provide other agency employees with statistical data regarding employees (i.e. FT number verse PT, etc.).
    • Actively participate on CCNELA’s executive leadership team in order to drive agency-wide policy and strategic direction decisions.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Director of Grants and Budgets, and Director of Operations in order to develop and revise HR policies and procedures as needed.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the department, in alignment with CCNELA’ larger strategic vision and goals, engendering trust and respect throughout the organization.

    Job Duties

    • Employee Recruitment: posting positions, drafting job descriptions, serving as the initial point of contact. Research salary comparisons of positions.
    • Employee On-boarding: hold employee new hire meetings, processing all new hire paperwork including but not limited to: employment eligibility verification, applications, documentation review, W4 form, resume collection, fingerprint clearance process, motor vehicle record process, direct deposit forms, etc. Prepare offer letter, NYS rate of pay agreement, and confidentiality agreement. Train new employees on policies and procedures.
    • Employee Record Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining employee documents both physically in files as well as in various Excel spreadsheets, and in a database. Enter all employee data into the database. Process Personal Action Forms for new hires, employee changes, and employee terms.
    • Benefits: Work with Director of Grants and Budgets to oversee employee benefits, including ACA requirements, analysis of plans, new hire enrollment, open enrollment periods, separations and COBRA.
    • Employee Relations: Serve as the point of entry and communication hub for the agency regarding employee relation activities. Responsible for assuring proper handling of employee information and documentation of any employee related issues (i.e. commendations, warnings, employee evaluations, etc.)

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong awareness of human resources regulations (Federal, State, local) and/or ability to self-direct toward reliable resources and learn current regulations quickly and thoroughly
  • Ability to balance multiple areas of responsibility and to prioritize workload effectively
  • Willingness to request clarifications proactively while building level of self-sufficiency
  • Proven knowledge of community resources and ability to network with them
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations under high-stress conditions
  • Strong track record of planning milestones and meeting interim and final deadlines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good computers skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Prior HR or Administrative experience required.

Pre-K Expansion Project Director

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Operations

JOB PURPOSE
This position is one role in a large system of services provided to children and families.  The primary purpose of a Pre-K Expansion Project Director is to support diverse delivery Pre-K services to classrooms to meet requirements of the grant. Reporting to the Director of Operation and working closely with the Director of Grants and Budgets and state funders, the Pre-K Expansion Program Director will be responsible for the following job duties. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Position Specific:

    • Serve as a liaison and assist in building partnerships between school districts and child care centers.
    • Create a system of seamless transitions between classrooms and programs.
    • Coordinate with the Early Childhood Lead Agency (OPENetwork) to develop and support coordinated enrollment.
    • Plan and deliver joint professional development that meets LDOE Quality Child Care Requirements, child care licensing and state Pre-K program requirements
    • Collaborate with existing programs to help create a comprehensive, seamless early childhood system.
    • Serve as a resource to all parties seeking information regarding diverse delivery.
    • Provide on-site technical assistance by planning and/or supporting joint professional development activities to increase CLASS scores and state Pre-K program requirements.
    • Prepare reports as required.
    • Attend Louisiana Department of Education meetings as needed and meet LDOE contractual obligations.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on child care licensing regulations, LDOE Quality Child Care Requirements, the goals and expectations of the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) Act 3, TOTS, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, the Child Care Assistance Program, Health/Sanitation Regulations, Fire Marshal Regulations and Pathways Career Development System.

    Other Duties

    • Attend appropriate meetings/trainings
    • Available to participate in professional development trainings
    • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Executive Director or supervisor to fully develop and facilitate the operation of the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in the field of early childhood development or education, child development or education, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with children in a child care and/or school setting.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of child development based on education, training, and experience working directly with children in a high-quality early care and education setting.
  • Eligible for Pathways Trainer Certification, TS GOLD inter-rater reliability, and CLASS reliability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding and demonstration of cultural competency.
  • Self-motivation and multi-taking capabilities.
  • Must be team oriented and possess leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to mission and vision of the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana.
  • Ability to follow Human Resources Procedures.

Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist

Position Open Date: March 22, 2018

1 position (Part-time - 20 hours per week) 

Job Requirements 

Education: Minimum requirement of a Masters or PH.D in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or closely related field.  Appropriate licensure to practice mental health counseling is preferred. 

Experience: Minimum of 2 years direct experience in mental health setting providing prevention services and/or mental health therapy to children and families. 

Skills: 

  • Visit each center at least once a week for observations and assessments. 
  • Provide child development information related to social-emotional development and mental health. 
  • Provide guidance to staff on selecting, implementing, and interpreting social-emotional screening and assessment tools and findings. 
  • Provide guidance and model developmentally appropriate activities for children and effect ways to work with and support young children. 
  • Provide staff training. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel.
