WHAT IS CDA? |
WHAT IS THE EARLY CHILDHOOD ANCILLARY TEACHING CERTIFICATE? |
The CDA is the best first step you can take to work effectively with children and their families. CDA stands for Child Development Associate and is the only credit bearing national credential that leads to an Associate's degree. When you earn your CDA you join a community of over 420,000 early childhood educators.
After completing the program, teachers will receive their Child Development Associate (CDA) and be qualified to receive their Ancillary Teaching Certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education. |
The ancillary teaching certificate is a professional credential for teachers in early learning centers who have obtained (at minimum) their CDA credential.
The program is a state funded 7 month hybrid training program that provides 120 hours of in-depth training in early childhood education, 30 clock hours of applied practice in early childhood settings, and intensive support and coaching for teachers completing their CDA portfolio. Effective July 1, 2019 all lead teachers in Type III centers are required to have an Ancillary Teaching Certificate. |
