The Family Resource Center for Northeast Louisiana serves families and parents at no cost in the following parishes: Bienville, Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union, and West Carroll. Although our primary purpose is to provide parent education, visit coaching and a safe environment for families and children receiving services through DCFS’ Child Protective Services, our ultimate goal is to provide comprehensive parenting education, resources and information.

TRIPLE P - POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM

TRIPLE P SELECTED SEMINAR SERIES

​An introduction to the strategies of positive parenting and Triple P. Parents attend any number of three 90-minute seminars: Power of Positive Parenting, Raising Confident Competent Children, and Raising Resilient Children.

GROUP TRIPLE P

Parents or caregivers interested in promoting their child’s development and potential or they may have concerns about their child’s behavioral problems or simply wish to prevent behavior problems from developing. Parents actively participate in a range of exercises to learn about the causes of child behavior problems, setting specific goals, and using strategies to promote child development, manage misbehavior, and plan for high-risk situations.

STANDARD TEEN TRIPLE P
​(1:1 INTERVENTION)

​Parents or caregivers who have concerns about their teenager’s development and behavior can take part in support intervention on a one-to-one basis. After thorough family assessment, parents set their own goals, learn ways to encourage positive behavior for teens, and teach their teens new skills such as problem solving, conflict resolution, and self-regulation.  Parents also learn ways to use appropriate consequences for problem behavior (e.g. breaking family rules, taking inappropriate risks, emotional outbursts).

FAMILY LIFE SKILLS
Individual or 8 Week Group

These high-interest, group courses are designed to help you create a safe, healthy and financially stable home for your family. Topics may include but are not limited to: Financial Management, Child Development, Healthy Relationships, Time Management and Communication. Drop-ins are welcome.

ACEs TRAINING

This training will help you understand, recognize, and prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Participants will learn about risk and protective factors, outcomes associated with ACEs, and evidence-based strategies you can use to reduce or eliminate the impact of ACEs.

VISIT COACHING

Sessions are designed to help parents identify their children’s needs. Parents exercise tactics and strategies taught in parentings sessions on how to meet these needs during visitation time.  Only families receiving services through DCFS can be referred for Visit Coaching by their case manager.

HOW TO REFER FAMILIES

​DCFS case managers can complete a referral form and submit to the FRC office via fax, email or mail. Our staff will follow up with parents and their DCFS case worker to secure consent forms and additional information for services.  DCFS staff can also call our office directly and speak with staff regarding referrals or email [email protected].
