DARKNESS TO LIGHT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
CHILDREN'S COALITION PROGRAMS
A program of the Children's Coalition, Bully Proof is connected to students receiving the Al's Pals curriculum through the Children's Coalition and funded by Northeast Delta HSA. Buddy Benches have been installed across the region encouraging students to use them when they are in need of a buddy or would like to be a buddy.
Darkness to Light is a national nonprofit organization that seeks to empower adults to prevent child sex abuse. Darkness to Light programs raise awareness and educate adults how to PREVENT, RECOGNIZE, and REACT responsibly to child sexual abuse. The Children's Coalition has a Trained Facilitator, Tammy Washington, on staff.
Although our primary purpose is to provide parent education, visit coaching and a safe environment for families and children receiving services through DCFS’ Child Protective Services, our ultimate goal is to provide free comprehensive parenting education, resources, and information for all parents in Northeast Louisiana.
Not a #Number is a prevention curriculum designed to teach youth how to protect themselves from human trafficking and exploitation through information, critical thinking, and skill development.
The Gingerbread House Bossier/Caddo Children’s Advocacy Center is a community-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that began serving abused children in 1998. The Center works in close collaboration with local law enforcement, child protective services, the district attorney’s offices, and medical and mental health professionals to provide the best possible services for abused children and their families.
CAN trains quality community volunteers to serve as court appointed special advocates for abused children through the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program. The agency implemented the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy program. The goal of this specialized therapy is to address symptoms in children that have resulted from a specific traumatic experience or experiences.
In partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), we promote the safety, well-being and permanence of children and families. Our goal is to reduce child neglect and abuse, family disruption and violence by working alongside parents to help them learn new life skills so that they can become better parents and provide a better future for their families. We focus on effective parenting techniques, positive discipline, improved communication skills, and child management.
