TBRI FRIDAY TRAININGS ARE NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

We are partnering with Crossroads NOLA to bring TBRI Friday's online! Now more than ever, the need for trauma-informed training is becoming evident in our state, and so shortly after COVID-19 began to spread, our team started working to make TBRI Fridays trainings available online.

Thanks to our partnership with the Louisiana Child Welfare Training Academy, we now have registration set up via moodle, and we’ve got our first training session scheduled - here are the details:

TBRI® INTRO & OVERVIEWWe’ve broken down our full day training into 4 online modules. ALL modules must be completed to get credit for this “session” of TBRI Intro & Overview.

Module 1 - Wed April 29th, 12-1:30pm
Module 2 - Fri May 1st, 12-1:30pm
Module 3 - Mon May 4th, 12-1:30pm
Module 4 - Wed May 6th, 12-1:30pm

Participants will register for the training session on Moodle and once they complete all 4 modules of the training and complete post tests/eval, they’ll receive their CEUs. We’ve gotten approval for 5 social work distance learning CEUs, 5 LCA distance learning CEUs and 5 foster parent training hours.

Once we do this first trial run this month, we’ll be scheduling future sessions, so be on the lookout for more training dates coming soon!

CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE SKILL OF THE WEEK

Learning encouragement is essential for children and adults. Conscious Discipline provides parents and teachers with a practical way to encourage their children every day by simply following the formula above. The Skill of the Week is part of the Seven Skills of Discipline series.

Amy Clancy, Director of Childcare Connections & Lead Agency at the Children's Coalition, thinks Conscious Discipline is important because "Conscious Discipline is an evidence based, trauma informed approach rooted in brain science. It is designed to help teachers and parents to focus on connecting with children and teaching them strategies to foster self-regulation skills."

Conscious Discipline is used in connection with our Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) event held every month. TBRI Fridays aim to educate parents on understanding the meaning of child behaviors, the brain chemistry of a child from a hard place, and how to help these children and families heal and connect.
